How weird
“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness - and call it love - true love.” ~Robert Fulghum, True Love

Hard Work
Boys, I’ve listened to your horseshit enough.
You want to know what hard work is, listen up:
I’ve rode a misery whip; carried hod;
Pulled green-chain; broke big rocks into little rocks;
Whupped a hundred miles of picket fence;
Set choker in country so rough
You were doing good if you could crawl downhill.
I’ve fought wildfire; lugged sandbags against floods;
...

Hours of fun for two people.
I hope it works out well.
Tumblr would approve. It appreciates brevity.

A flood of help
I’ve been wondering how to help the Pakistani Flood situation. Who to donate money to, whether to organise a fundraiser.
Then I read about this amazing man, Malik Riaz Hussain, and I hope it’s true: http://www.thenational.ae/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100822/FOREIGN/708219908/0/PERSONALFINANCE

In celebration of this site's first birthday
So much has happened in the last year, dear blog type thing. I don’t even know what you are. I’ve thought of scarecrows and concrete and mud and care homes and Alzheimer’s and bulbs and music and charity and moved countries and experienced the death of a parent and friends have died, and suffered cancer and others had babies, lots of babies, against-all-the-odds babies, IVF...

Rushing to the aid of a dementia sufferer shouting for help will not stop them shouting for help. This programme annoyed me on 1,000 different levels, but raising the issue of dementia care at national level is laudable. Remember the saying, “When you’ve seen one person with dementia, you’ve seen one person with dementia.”

A night out with mum
I took my mum to see Inglourious Basterds. I gave her a quick run-down on the work of Mr. Tarantino, warned her that it may be violent, but she enjoyed it. At least she said she did. I did. And I enjoyed the fact that I can hang out with mum, even when watching a violent film. My mum is cool. She didn’t like Brad Pitt’s accent though. And watched a lot of it with her eyes shut.
